After years of editorial experience with a significant focus on engagement, plus more recent experience as an assistant teacher in both daycare and school environments, I have learned that building community and empowering youth through communication skills, literature, and storytelling is my modus operandi.
I'm very passionate about adolescent literacy, radical pedagogy for secondary schools, educational sociology, modern early education research, and curriculum reform.
I'm pursuing a career in early education (nursery/elementary age groups) with an ultimate goal of teaching high-school English in the NYCDOE. As I work towards my teaching certificate, I'm really looking forward to gaining experience with education non-profits that expand access to literacy education and arts and culture for school-aged children, particularly in low-income areas of New York City.
